SM Summer Camp 2019
This summer, we are going to camp! Instead of going on a mission trip, we are going to be heading down to our SBC camp, Highland Lakes Camp, to be a part of their annual teen camp! Camp operates different than missions trips in many regards, but I believe that this will be a terrific week of spiritual growth for your teen.
At camp, your teen will grow in their personal walk with Jesus and be able to grow in their relationships both with those inside our student ministry, but also from other student ministries—including others from the Michiana area.
Unlike the mission trip, there are no team meetings leading up to the week of camp. There will be a meeting on the Sunday, two weeks before we leave to go over final details.
We will be having a couple group fundraisers, but we will not be doing many. If your teen wants to go to camp, they will have to handle most of the payment on their own. We will be providing ways for the church to hire teens to help raise their cost, and there will also be scholarships that teens can earn by doing various tasks by certain dates. With the scholarship opportunities we will provide, the cost will drop significantly, so don't fear the price.

FAQ
How does lodging work?
Highland Lakes Camp has various dorms and rooms. The camp has different sites for the guys and girls, but youth groups bunk together with their leaders. In other words, SM teens will be bunking all together.
Will my teen ever be separated from the rest of SM?
There will two times during the day where our teens will be separated. One is during the morning devotional time/group time and the other is during the track time.
During the devotional/group time, they will be with other campers who are in the same grade. This is designed help all the campers meet new friends, as well as have age-appropriate conversations.
During track time, it is based on how the teen chooses. There's a Track A & Track B.*

What are the tracks? When will we pick which we want to do?
Tracks allow the campers to customize their camp experience. There are three main categories of tracks: creative, active, spiritual (will pry be expanded upon down at camp). There will activities such a crafts, painting, paintball, archery tag, dodgeball, missions, Bible study techniques, Bible classes, etc.
Do we have to be members to send our teens to camp?
Nope! Sure don't!
However, if your teen is not a part of SM, please e-mail our pastor, Marc Hyde, at [email protected] expressing your interest in sending your teen to camp with our church. He'll follow through with any questions, as well as keep you up to date by subscribing you to our text alerts for camp teens and families.

Where is camp located?
Highland Lakes Camp (http://highlandlakes.org) is located in Martinsville, Indiana.
Why are you going to Indianapolis on Friday before returning home?
For the past two years, we took our mission trip teams on an adventure in the area where we were serving. Two years ago, we did downtown Nashville, and last we, we went to Mammoth Cave. This year, we want to take them into Indianapolis to spend a little more time with each other. This will not cost any extra to you as a parent, but we like to take extra opportunities for the teens to make some memories. We will have more information on exactly what we'll be doing and where we'll be going when in Indy.
