Why a Student Leadership Program in the church?
Our goal at SM is to develop students into life-long followers of Jesus. In order to do this, we are teaching teens to live their lives in accordance to what Jesus modeled and taught, and Jesus taught leadership!
In John 13, we see Jesus demonstrating leadership by serving the disciples. In the same way, we want to teach teens how to be servant-leaders in their schools, in their church, and in their families. Below gives the heartbeat behind our Student Leadership program.

Who can apply?
The SLT is open to anyone who will be going into 10th grade during the 2019–20 school year. There is an application process that everyone must go through, but just because someone applies, does not mean they will be accepted. There is a third-party SLT Selection Team that will be helping select the SLT...in other words, Marc and Nicole will not be solely choosing the Student Leadership Team.
Why the Application?
The SLT has high expectations and will require a level of commitment that is not expected anywhere else inside of the student ministry. The application forces teens to think about why they want to join, and it instantly shows the SM staff that they are serious about being a part of this ministry.
What are the parts of the application?
There are technically three parts of the application:
To have your application deemed "completely turned in," all three parts of the SLT application must be turned in.
- Intro Page with basic information
- SLT Applicant Questionnaire
- Parent Reference Form (parent reference form must be put into a sealed envelope with the applicant's parent's signature on the sealed flap of the envelope)
To have your application deemed "completely turned in," all three parts of the SLT application must be turned in.
When is the application due?
