12/18/2019 1 Comment Advent 2019 - Day 18READ John 3:16-19 For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Anyone who believes in him is not condemned, but anyone who does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the one and only Son of God. This is the judgment: The light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than the light because their deeds were evil. This is one of the most well-known passages in the Bible. Even some non-Christians know John 3:16. Yet, one of the most unknown verses is John 3.17. Right after one of the most well-known verses is a verse that really sheds some light on the depth of God’s great love for us.
So many people think of God as a bully with a magnifying glass, looking down on us like an ant hill. In reality, God didn’t send Jesus into our world to condemn it. He sent Jesus to save us. That is a really important thing for us to understand. God’s great love for us has always been the heart of His plan. Not condemnation or punishment. Love. REFLECT Take some time and rest in the greatness of God’s love for you. He doesn't want to punish or condemn you. He loves you and wants you to be saved through His Son, Jesus.
