12/22/2019 0 Comments Advent 2019 - Day 22READ 2 Samuel 7:1-5; 16 When the king had settled into his palace and the Lord had given him rest on every side from all his enemies, the king said to the prophet Nathan, “Look, I am living in a cedar house while the ark of God sits inside tent curtains.” So Nathan told the king, “Go and do all that is on your mind, for the Lord is with you.” But that night the word of the Lord came to Nathan: “Go to my servant David and say, ‘This is what the Lord says: Are you to build me a house to dwell in? Your house and kingdom will endure before me forever, and your throne will be established forever. God’s presence among His people in the Old Testament was constantly housed in a tent. When God make David king over Israel, God asked David to build Him a house. Because David was a man after God's’ own heart, God was with him.
God goes on to explain to David that He would establish David’s throne forever. This is not because of how good David was. In fact, David made some pretty huge mistakes. God was doing this because it was part of His plan. Jesus would come and Jesus would be a descendant of Israel's greatest king, David. God shows His love for us through establishing David’s throne forever because that means that Jesus’ reign and His rule will never end! The perfect Prince of Peace will never be defeated! REFLECT How does it make you feel to know that your King will never be defeated? How can you show God how thankful you are for his never-ending love?
