2/13/2019 0 Comments Camp ScholarshipsCamp is just around the corner! To help off-set the cost of camp, we are providing up to $100 in scholarships to every teen that is going to camp. We will be doing some other events that will go towards reducing the cost for everyone, but in order to guarantee this $100 scholarship, each teen going to camp must complete the scholarship requirements. Here's how it will work:
FAQ for ScholarhipsWhy reading and not something else?
Here are two quotes for you: "Give yourself unto reading. The man who never reads will never be read; he who never quotes will never be quoted. He who will not use the thoughts of other men’s brains, proves that he has no brains of his own. You need to read." CH Spurgeon “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” – Dr. Seuss Reading, although difficult and time consuming, will teach you far more than any message, sermon, lesson, or TedTalk dares to dream. After reading one or two of the books from the options given, you'll know more about the Cristian faith, know more about how to live the Christian life, and learn from those who have changed many lives through the one life they were given. What if I only read one book and not two?
If you read one book, you'll get half the scholarship ($50). Where do I get the books?
There will a table in the SM room at the church where you can borrow one book at a time (for two weeks). You can also see if your library has these books in stock (or request them to be sent to your library—just talk with your librarian), or you can buy them for yourself (which I HIGHLY recommend). Once you take a book, you'll be asked to write down your name and which book you took so that we can keep track of the books. If there are no books in the category that you need, and you need a book, talk with Marc. We'll work something out. Is this scholarship opportunity for everyone or just members of South Side?
This is for any teen going to camp. If you're going to camp and not a part of South Side but would like to participate in the scholarship opportunity, you can either (A) ask your friend to pick up a book for you or (B) check your library or buy the books for yourself to keep. Where do I get the reading report forms?
You can download the forms here or scroll to the bottom of the page and download the forms there. Below, you can select "Print Version" to download the print out the form or you can click "Online Version" to fill out your form online. You can also pickup a form on the table where you got a book.
